After Making Georgia a Laughingstock, Deal Goes into Damage Control

Press Release

Date: Oct. 20, 2014
Location: Atlanta, GA

Gov. Nathan Deal embarrassed himself and the state when he said that water cures Ebola. After first defending those comments, Deal finally changed course last night, admitting he was wrong and appointing an "Ebola response team."

"The most important thing leaders can do in a public health crisis is provide clear, accurate and timely information," said Sen. Jason Carter. "Gov. Deal failed on all counts. His statement that water kills Ebola was reckless and irresponsible.

"This task force is nothing but political damage control. Our public health system should be driven by science, not politics.

"Gov. Deal has shown time and again he is not prepared to lead in a crisis."
